Nicki Richesin is a literary agent at Dunow, Carlson & Lerner. A former editor, she began her agenting career at Wendy Sherman Associates in 2017. Her list includes groundbreaking literary and upmarket fiction. She especially loves speculative fiction that features a world like ours with a twist, literary suspense, and evocative writing with a sense of humor and irreverence.
In nonfiction, she is on the hunt for social and reproductive justice projects. She represents cultural criticism, culinary writing and cookery, popular culture, and current affairs. She is honored to represent many feminist authors including Michelle Bowdler (her memoir Is Rape a Crime? was longlisted for the National Book Award in 2020), Sesali Bowen (Bad Fat Black Girl), Mirinae Lee (8 Lives of a Century-Old Trickster), Ritu Mukerji (Murder By Degrees), Gabrielle Korn (Yours For The Taking), Nina St. Pierre (Love Is a Burning Thing), Carrie Courogen (Miss May Does Not Exist), and Shira Spector (Red Rock Baby Candy).
Her clients have received recognition from National Book Foundation, Women's Prize for Fiction, MacDowell, Sewanee Writer’s Conference, Bread Loaf, Ragdale Foundation, Mystery Writers of America Edgar Awards, New York Foundation for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, Grub Street, International Association of Culinary Professionals, and Banff Centre.
A few (non-client) authors she admires: Miriam Toews, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Rachel Cusk, Zadie Smith, Deborah Levy, Raven Leilani, Lauren Groff, Claire-Louise Bennett, Karen Thompson Walker, Lisa Taddeo, Yaa Gyasi, Samantha Hunt, Katherine Heiny, Rachel Yoder, and Tana French
Dunow, Carlson & Lerner is a mid-size, full service agency offering representation in all areas of the publishing marketplace, including foreign, film, audio and digital. Collectively, we bring over fifty years of publishing experience to our company. The agency represents literary and commercial fiction, narrative nonfiction, memoir, popular culture and young adult fiction and we enjoy a strong reputation in the industry for high quality books and strong publisher relationships.
