Nicki Richesin is a freelance editor with author, publisher, and agency clients. She works with writers–both individually, and on behalf of their agent or publisher–providing conceptual development notes to strengthen and elevate book projects with an emphasis on memoir, literary and commercial fiction, and select nonfiction. After 15 years as an editor, she knows exactly what publishers look for in a book and helps her clients develop their work with this unique perspective in mind.
As the author and editor of four anthologies (The May Queen, Because I Love Her, What I Would Tell Her, and Crush), she had the great privilege of editing over a hundred talented writers including Karen Joy Fowler, Joyce Maynard, Ann Hood, Jacquelyn Mitchard, Jennifer Weiner, Amy Greene, Chris Bohjalian, Kaui Hart Hemmings, Thomas Beller, and Meghan Daum. Because I Love Her and Crush have been translated and published in Chinese and Korean.
Her books have been excerpted and praised in The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, The Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, Redbook, Good Housekeeping, Parenting, Cosmopolitan, Bust, Salon, Daily Candy, and Babble.
She is the former San Francisco Editor of DuJour and Rundown and has been a frequent contributor to Sunset, Daily Candy, The Huffington Post, and 7×7. She covers lifestyle, pop culture, food, and the occasional Pulitzer Prize winning author, rock star, Academy Award winning actress, and philanthropist grand dame.
